Missglückter Abstecher in die USA
Irritationen könnten zum Rücktritt Stéphane Lambiels geführt haben

Failed journey to America

Irritation pushed Stéphane Lambiel to retire

“Where is the champagne?” shouts Stéphane Lambiel, when press concerence is over and journalists are busy with their laptops sending the news, that the most special athlete of Switzerland is retired. It’s typical for him to experience every moment intense. He decided that it’s a positive moment in his life and wanted to share his emotions of freedom and set out. But except him, nobody has real mood for celebrating.

This forced easiness, how Lambiel leaves everything behind, makes rather worry. What happened then in last months, that he no other way out saw, than retirement? No doubt, that main reason is his health, but that’s not all. Real tragedys hide sometimes still and unnoticed under the ground and have no much to do with press conference.

In the beginning of june started the most shining figure in international figure skating to be reasonable. Lambiel wanted to do that, what he should do already many years ago. In his level he could not more train in his homeland, he needed strong routine where nothing flatters him away from figure skating . First he needed to learn the right technique for his Axel, a synonym of his fails. Mit aim of olympic gold was he ready for all that.

The name of tediousness is Wayne and it is in New Jersey (this journalists are really crazy! They really harm Stéphane with sayings like this) His new coach Viktor Petrenko is a nice guy. He has perfect 3 Axel and ISU uses videos of it as an example. Lambiel moved to their house, ice-hall is only 10 minutes to go. Petrenko’s daughter Viktoria “addopted” him as a brother. He tries to see in this suburb-idylle only good. But his calls to his former coach accumulated. There were irritations.

Why is demanded, he must imitate Johnny Weir’s spins? Soon is clear, that not Petrenko is his coach, but Galina Zmievskaya, a soviet-style figure skating general. She can also punish skaters. When flip is bad, you get no supper. Her son-in-law Petrenko decides up to here nothing without her.

Maybe last drop, what pushed Lambiel to his decision was planning of Trophee Eric Bompard. While Zmievskaya could not to be there with him, only Petrenko, had Lambiel a wish to have there also his choreograph Salome Brunner. But Zmievskaya said no. What needed Lambiel to do then? Be reasonable?

Maybe Wayne was a mistake (Flop – can someone help with this word? I don’t know it exactly) and he didn't want to witness that for himself, reflects Peter Grütter. 4 weeks ago said sport doctors in München loudly to Salome Brunner, who was there with him, that all malaises of adductor-injury must soon vanish. Maybe false decisions make phantom-pains?

This decision made in last week-end was surprising. His old concurent Evgeni Plushenko should hardly believe that. He saw then in Milan his "Tango". Plushenko knows better than anybody, what it is to train in pains and with last strength make competitions.

“Look, my schedule is empty, you can have me,” joked Lambiel in Bern. But he is not prepared for the time after competitive sport. He encourages himself, saying: “I have a good school certificate, I speak 5 languages.” But there is a big uncertainty. His next job will be Art on Ice in the end of January. Next months will be for him maybe harder, than competitions.

I heard that Joubert's Skating Federation asked him to move from the place where training and to "engage someone which helped to his coach" - or will it restrict further support to him.... sound almost as ultimatum :B):

Joubert, Depouilly to join forces till Team Trophy
Frenchman previously worked with this coach in 2004 and 2005

The French Federation just announced the name of Brian Joubert's coach for the next two weeks: Laurent Depouilly. Depouilly will coach Joubert up to the ISU World Team Trophy, to be held in Tokyo, from April 16-19.

Depouilly coached Joubert in 2004 and 2005, during which time the Frenchman won his first European gold medal. In 2005, however, the duo split. Joubert thought Depouilly was not professional enough, and Depouilly argued that Joubert was not practicing hard enough.

After this first two-week period, the French Federation has plans to ask several skating experts to coach Joubert in all aspects of his skating -- spins, steps, choreography and artistic impression. Their names remain unknown, though. Whether Depouilly and Joubert can work fruitfully again may affect what solution is finally adopted. Time is ticking away, with only 10 months before the start of the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver.

Joubert want to be trained by Tarasova

World Champion 2007, Frenchman Brian Joubert, a third on World Championship in Los Angeles, to part with his coach, Jean-Christophe Simon and wants to work with Russians Tatiana Tarasova.

- Start the season went well, and then all downhill slope - quoting 24-year-old Frenchman AFP.
- The main reason for the loss of the result is that coach spent with me is not enough time. To prepare for the Olympic Games in Vancouver, I will stay to train in France. And I wish that, as a coach with me was my former coach Laurent Depouilly, but as a choreographer, I see Tatiana Tarasova.

To address the issue of the trainer, join a national federation.

Chinese little Plushenko

Ge Mikhail (戈米沙) is 17 years old Chinese figure skater. Misha was born and raised in Russia. He came to China with family when he was 11. And then, he was naturalized in China.
His great-grandfather is Chinese, great-grandmother is Russian, grandmother on father's side is Korean, father (Misha's coach) Ge Jun (戈軍) is mix of Chinese and Russian. (Too complex ) Father Ge Jun was member of team China of figure skating. He moved to Soviet when he was 17, and studied in central academy of physical education. He and his wife met there. Mother Ge Larisa is Russian. She was a skater (maybe, single). She has stood on the podium at the Soviet nationals (I'm not sure which competition it is. But, I guess, maybe it was Soviet nationals.) She graduated from Soviet's academy of pysical education, department of figure skating. She once became one of trainers of team Russia.
Misha's idol is Evgeni Plushenko. Misha has a dream to take part in 2014 Olympics :36_1_55.gif:

According to an article, Evgeni knows him because Larisa is Evgeni's friend. So Evgeni gaves an autobiography and music which used in his program to Misha ^_^

BTW what is Larissa's former surname..??? Larisa Zamotina (Лариса Замотина)??? hmm :AddEmoticons04259.gif:

Maybe ... Mama is Larisa Zamotina. Maybe. I'm not sure

According to the article, Chinese figure skating specialist Yao Bin said that our skaters have outstanding technic but has no artistry. On the other hand, Russian skaters have perfect artistry and technic. The most typical are Plushenko and Yagudin. Now, little Misha appears in China's junior team. He is descended from Russia. His mother was an excellent skater. So, he will become excellent skater.

Brian Joubert's New Coach Announced;
Laurent Depouilly to Guide the 2009 European Champion

Laurent Depouilly is Brian Joubert’s new coach. The French figure skating federation announced the change this morning in a press release. Depouilly replaces Jean-Christophe Simond who said he feels betrayed by Joubert’s actions.

Depouilly, who coached Joubert from October 2003 through January 2005, will be at the French skater’s side for the ISU World Team Trophy in Tokyo (April 16-19).

In a statement, federation officials said that Joubert would be helped during major skating events by “the most competent personalities for his training and [who will best] represent his image.”

“My main wish is to train and remain in Poitiers,” Joubert said, “to have Depouilly as my coach, Tatiana Tarasova as my choreographer and Lucinda Ruh (from Switzerland) in charge of spins.”

Depouilly arrived in Poitiers on April 1. “I feel honored to train him [again], and that the decision was a recognition of the work we did together,” Depouilly declared.

In 2004 under Depouilly‘s direction, Joubert won the European title and was later the runner-up at the 2004 World Championships, behind Evgeni Plushenko.

“We have to shape all the details of an eventual work [arrangement] together, in accordance with the French federation. Being at his side until the Olympics will be a privilege,” Depouilly said.

Joubert claimed that problems with Simond started in January 2007 at the European Championships, which were held in Warsaw. Joubert won that title, one of three European crowns he has claimed, including this year’s title. “Jean-Christophe was not enough present in Poitiers,” Joubert said. “He was only there for 125 days per year.”

That statement was strongly denied by Simond. “Saying that was unbearable [for me to hear],” he said. “That I was in Poitiers for only four months was a true lie. I was spending seven months [there] and I can prove it.

“I really feel betrayed. In order to work with him, I had to put aside my private life (Simond's family lives in Nice, some 550 miles away). This is ugly and I don’t want to get involved in this controversy and this kind of trial. His close circle might be giving him bad advice. I believe it is their decision, not his.”

Didier Gailhaguet, the president of the French figure skating federation, was not happy with the decision to change Joubert’s free program for the 2009 World Championships. Joubert, the 2007 champion, placed third. “Changing a routine was a childish move from Brian and his coach,” Gailhaguet said. “It should have never happened and that will not be repeated in the future. That was not professional behavior.”

Joubert has had five coaching changing in the past five and a half years. Véronique Guyon-Desgardins coached Joubert for close to 15 years until September 2003. After that the revolving door of coaches started. His coaches from that point in time were: Depouilly from October 2003 until January 2005, Guyon-Desgardins from January to March 2005, Andreï Berezinstev from the summer 2005 until April 2006, Simond from the of summer 2006 until April 2009, and now Depouilly.

Also in the news are Tatiana Totmianina and Alexei Yagudin. News reports indicate the two are getting married in the summer. Totmininia is two months pregnant with the couple's twins, according to the Russian website, life.ru.

Sources have told IFS, Totmininia and Yagudin have dated for over a year, since touring together.

Sasha Cohen looking to compete in 2010 Winter Olympics
http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-spw-cohen...0,3922807.story

Sasha Cohen looks at scores following her performance in the women's figure skating final at the 2006 Turin Winter Olympic Games. Cohen is looking to compete in the 2010 Winter Olympics and will formally announce her comeback May 15.
Figure skating star says she would accept an invitation to participate in this fall's Skate America. She plans to begin training at Lake Arrowhead.

Figure skating star Sasha Cohen revealed she has informed U.S. Figure Skating she would accept its invitation to Skate America next fall, a move that confirms she will come back to competition in an attempt to make the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver.

Speaking exclusively Wednesday from Winnipeg, Canada, where she is touring with Stars on Ice, Cohen, the 2006 Olympic silver medalist, said she plans a formal announcement of the comeback late next week.

Cohen said she will train with one of Michelle Kwan's former coaches, Rafael Arutunian, at Lake Arrowhead, Calif. Arutunian coached Kwan from the 2003-2004 season through her injury withdrawal at the 2006 Olympics and then coached Japanese star Mao Asada for two seasons.

"I'm very excited about doing this," said Cohen, 24, who has not competed since winning a bronze medal at the 2006 world championships.

USFS spokesperson Scottie Bibb said the organization would withhold comment until a May 14 teleconference to announce Cohen's intentions.

Cohen's chances to make a third U.S. Olympic team -- she was fourth at the 2002 Winter Games -- were hurt when the U.S. performances at the March world championships earned just two women's spots at the 2010 Olympics.

Under USFS rules, Cohen qualifies for the 2010 U.S. nationals, where results will determine the Olympic team, because she was a medalist in the most recent Olympics.

Cohen said she would take some time off after the Stars tour ends Tuesday -- in Vancouver -- to give tendinitis in her foot time to heal. She wants to begin training full time by June 1.

Skate America, to be telecast by NBC, is Nov. 13-15 in Lake Placid, N.Y.

Since she did not compete on the six-event, six-nation Grand Prix circuit last year, Cohen can get spots in this year's events only by invitation from the organizers of each event. Those decisions are to be made May 30-31.

"Of course, I would like to do a second Grand Prix," Cohen said. "I have been away for a while, and the more competitive practice I get, the better."

Sasha is back! (Maybe.) Next is you Zhenya :AddEmoticons0218.gif:

But, full-time training will begin by June? I think she's leisurely. Her rivals are very strong. Ladies were developed from three years ago unlike Men
